Description:  Judy Niemeyer’s Twinkle Star is a classic Lone Star variation. The Lone Star is beautiful in its own right, but Judy has embellished The Twinkle Star with radiant Suns, rising from the crux of the star points. The curves of the rising Suns create a glowing rosette, backlighting the star. These celestial elements are mounted on an elegant backdrop comprised of a straight set square, overlaid with an on-point square.

This versatile design can voice a number of themes, enhanced by your personal color choices. Obvious ones: Dawn, Sunrise (a lovely Easter quilt) or Sunset, with the star ascendant. And not such obvious ones: a Halloween spell gone horribly awry (think Halloween colors).

The pattern uses basic paper piecing techniques that can be applied to many of Judy’s Lone Star projects. And, it is Quiltster Compatible! This means you can try out various fabric and color combinations as part of your fabric selection appointment with Melanie. The Twinkle Star is a great introductory pattern. It is a small project that will help you master the skills you need to tackle a larger, more complex Lone Star design.

The class is taught in three monthly sessions, each focusing on the techniques necessary to complete a design element. You will have plenty of class time to learn and practice the necessary techniques with Melanie and time at home to complete each section before moving on.

What You Will Learn in This Class:  Paper Foundation Piecing Techniques: Stacking and Cutting, Floating Points, and Project Organization, as well as, Traditional Quilt Construction Techniques.

Melanie is a certified Judy Niemeyer Instructor. The instructor training is rigorous and intense, requiring the completion of several Judy Niemeyer quilts and attendance at Judy’s instructor seminars in Montana. Melanie is both skilled and delightful. We think you will enjoy working with her to complete your project.
